I talked about what teams will dominate in 5 years.
But who’s going to be the “FACE” of ther NBA?
For a while it’s been LeBron James.
Before that it was Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson before the NBA decided to black ball him.
Michael Jordan was at one point.
Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain.
Jerry West is the emblem.
Lots of face changes.
The past few years Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant have been in the conversation for being the face of the NBA. But that ended once they teamed up.
I honestly thought Kawhi Leonard was going to be MVP this season but… Yeah, you already know. Plus, I think he’s too quiet. Tim Duncan was a top player at one point. But never the face of the league.
So who’s going to be the face in the next 5 years?
This is most likely LeBron’s last year on the throne. He’s been the man for about a decade. But with all these younger players reaching elite status. Someone’s taking the crown.
Here’s a few players who have a good chance.
First, Anthony Davis…
I think he’s the best player in the league right now. If the Rockets didn’t get the first seed, The Brow would win it no doubt.
I’m expecting the Pelicans to be a top 3 team in the west. Which means he’s probably getting MVP.
He has no weakness in his game. He plays every aspect at a high level. Still, we don’t know if this is prime AD yet.
I can almost assure he’ll be the face of the NBA for, probably the rest of this decade at least. You can’t stop him, and he can stop you.
He’s raised many brows this year…
He’s my second choice. He’s pretty close to Davis. His only weakness is his jump shot. But that’s something he can easily develop as his career goes along. He’s already made huge strides over last off-season. He bulked up and just got more dominant in every aspect of the game. Once he gets a consistent jumper from deep mid-range and from the three-point line. He’ll be unstoppable like Davis.
He can already get to any spot he wants to on the court. Bigs are too slow to keep up with him. Guards are too small to contest his shots. Only a few can really match up, even then. He’s getting his.
He does it all just about, I can see him being MVP at least once. But the only thing that will stop him from being the best player in the world is Anthony Davis.
I have to mention him because lots of people are drawing comparisons to LeBron James and Magic Johnson, including me. He’s only a rookie, but the way he rallies this young 76ers team and his style of play at his size. Really hard to stop. He’s a very good defender inside and out. He’s a great facilitator and very solid in the post. Only negative is his jump shot. Once he develops a mid range, and then a deep shot. He’ll pretty much be a bigger LeBron.
He can definitely be the face of the NBA due to the publicity he gets as well as being LeBron’s protege.
I know, two players on the same team in the same conversation like this? He’s pretty close to Davis status. He’s not as quick or as good of a ball handler. But he can do everything else at a high level. Probably the second best two-way big in the league.
I’m not so sure about him being the face of the NBA. But he’ll probably be the most popular.
Similar case as Ben Simmons in terms of publicity and his comparisons to Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady. He’s pretty close to being an elite scorer if he isn’t one already. His skill set is very versatile.
I don’t see him being THE face. But he’ll probably be D Wade status behind Ben Simmons(LeBron).
James Harden, most likely this years MVP. Some argue he’s the best player in the league.
Russell Westbrook, I feel he prevents himself from being the face. He needs to learn to control himself.
Lonzo Ball, why not? Lavar wasn’t completely wrong… SIKE.
